Kris Happe, M.Ed, Gifted Education and More
Kris Happe is an ‘experienced’ educator with two gifted children of her own. She is very popular and kind of a big deal. This is all due to the fact that in her 40’s her goal was to be popular. Having accomplished her mission, she has now moved on to her 50’s goal. To be tall.
Giftedness, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, intensity, and depression are part of the picture of the Happe family experience. After 30+ years in education, she has been a classroom teacher, a gifted education program specialist in elementary schools, as well as a district gifted coordinator. Kris has served on the Minnesota Department of Education’s Gifted Education Advisory Council from 2006-2016.
Kris presents to parents, gifted adults and education audiences on topics such as gifted parenting, empathy building, self-regulation, family balance with a baseball card approach, calm-curious connections with your child, gifted programming, acceleration: a magical intervention for the right students, perfectionism and navigating a mainstream education ocean in a gifted boat.
Some of the places to see Kris include national conferences like the National Association of Gifted Children (NAGC) national gifted conference as well as local conferences for the Minnesota Council for Gifted and Talented- our parent advocacy group in Minnesota and the Minnesota Educators of Gifted and Talented. She also speaks regularly for the Minnesota Institute of Talented Youth and is a nationally certified SENG Model Parent Group Facilitator.
Stay tuned as Kris adds to her posts, offerings, and online events. She is trying to ‘run with scissors’ and not worry about perfection as she spreads the ‘Happe Factor’ and her awesomeness online!
